Introduction. Obesity is currently one of the major health problems in the contemporary world. One of the main determinants of excessive body mass is unhealthy lifestyle. Aim. The evaluation of physical activity and nutritional behavior of pregnant women. Material and methods. The experimental group includes 62 women with excessive body mass hospitalized in University Hospital in Cracow. The author’s own questionnaire was applied as the study method. Results. The average age of examined women amounted to 29.4 years. The average body mass index was 32.07 kg/m2. It results from conducted examinations that the diet of pregnant women with the excessive body weight did not contain essential nutrients. Moreover, almost all respondents chose not very active lifestyle. None of women drank alcohol, smoked cigarettes or took drugs. Conclusions. The knowledge about a proper lifestyle among pregnant women with the excessive body mass is still not sufficient. In order to supplement lacks of knowledge an interdisciplinary cooperation among competent employees of healthcare is needed.
