Fraza do cytowania: Deręgowska J, Majorczyk M Parental pedagogical culture and family lifestyle as healthcare factors within the family. A pedagogical reflection. Piel Pol. 2015;2(56):199–211.

The aim of this paper is to encourage thorough reflection regarding health in general, shaping healthy behavior and healthy lifestyle in reference to the role that the family plays in this respect, and above all, to the parents’ pedagogical culture. The issue seems to be exceedingly significant because parents’ pedagogical culture is treated as one of the most important factors affecting the health of the whole family system as well as its individual members. Empirical studies and observations suggest that modern parents who usually value health very highly, most frequently undertake such health oriented behaviours that pertain to the strictly physical aspect thereof. At the same time, they tend to forget about other, no less important areas such as social, mental, spiritual or sexual health which their aware pedagogical activities do not account for. That points to the necessity to trigger activities aimed at developing parental pedagogical culture, especially regarding introducing educational programs providing and enriching the common knowledge on the protection of the health, and at the same time pointing to the fact that only a well designed and integrated model of activities may prove to be effective.

Key words: health care, pedagogical culture, family, healthy lifestyle.
