This article presents the position of manager and his skills in a healthcare institution. This feature requires a comprehensive education in various fields: law, medicine, economics and psychology. Despite this, a person holding such a position should be characterized by other core competencies, so that his action were positively correlated to performance. It is important to have the appropriate characteristics in motivating, coordinating and organizing the work of staff. A health care manager in Poland may be a person meeting the requirements specified in the Ministry of Health of 05.17.2000, the management is the process of planning, guiding and controlling the activities of the organization and use of resources intended for specific purposes. This is not an easy task to do, because a manager needs to be a great specialist in performing these functions. All the time there is a demand for professionally trained managers to managehealth care. This is an exciting task, constantly throwing new challenges, placing themore difficult tasks to accomplish.
