Aim. The aim of the study was to assess the quality women’s life after mastectomy. Matherial and methods. The study involved 60 women in two age groups (up to 45 years of age and after 45 years of age). The study was conducted in Poznan Oncology Departments from May to the end of July 2014 using WHOOQL-BREF questionnaire (short version). Respondents answered the questions in the questionnaire. The survey was completely anonymous and voluntary. Results. In assessing the overall quality of life for women after mastectomy, respondents up to 45 years of age show a higher level of quality of life compared to the respondents in the other group. Conclusion. The quality of life depends on health. In the self-examination, a large role in its shaping took part such variables as: age, education and marital status. Statistically insignificant variables were: number of children and place of residence. Thanks to initiatives aimed at healthy lifestyle, breast self-examination, use of screening tests – the prognosis can be successful.
