Introduction. Tinnitus is a disease that puts a serious strain on patients, their family and friends. Therefore, the nurse plays a vital part dealing not only with nursing but also with educational and psychotherapeutic issues. The aim of the study. The aim of the work was to: determine whether the respondents have the knowledge of tinnitus identify their most common complaints nursing assessment and its impact on patient’s quality of life. Method. The research method constituted the questionnaire of its own design. Results and description. On the basis of the achieved results the following conclusions were formed most respondents could not describe the cause of their disease. They drew their knowledge of it from the doctor, the nurse, few of them from family, literature, mass media and friends. The most common complaints associated with tinnitus and recognized by patients were: conversation problems especially in noisy environment, reading difficulties especially in quiet space, insomnia, sleep disturbance, lack of concentration, constant fatigue, insecurity, irritability, anxiety and also problems with forming a positive relationship with others. The team work of the nurses was positively assessed by the respondents. The support, smile, friendliness, a thorough information of the disease and successful methods of the reduction of its complaints had undoubtedly a positive impact on patients’ quality of life.
