Aim. Presentation of selected theoretical assumptions in the area of occupational burnout and preliminary analysis of the research results concerning subjective experience of the symptoms of this phenomenon among nurses. Material and methods. A total of 111 nurses employed in a Poznań hospital took part in the study. The results were collected on the basis of completed CBI questionnaires. Conclusions. Nurses experience worrying symptoms that may indicate fatigue, physical or emotional exhaustion, in the personal aspect of life as well as work-related and involving contacts with patients.
