Breast cancer is the leading cause of death among women worldwide. One of the most important ways to treat breast cancer is surgical treatment, which has become less and less mutilated in the last century. We distinguish between savers and amputations (mastectomy). An integral part of modern breast cancer treatment is also surgical reproductive therapy. Cancer is associated with many stressful situations. Uncertainty relating to treatment outcomes, difficult to solve both in the personal and professional sphere, affects the psyche of women who are often preoccupied with such thoughts as fear of disability, fear of unknown prognosis, deterioration in family relationships and society. Every patient after breast removal should be able to talk to a doctor and psychologist. Therefore, the special role after the mastectomy is performed by psychiatric rehabilitation, which is performed in the hospital before and after surgery. A special role after the surgery is occupied by rehabilitation, which allows return to normal functioning in everyday life. The main aim of the work is to focus on the problems women face after mastectomy, which affect the psyche of women. Pre-operation and post-operative therapy can help patients return to the normal life they had before surgery.

Key words: mastectomy, psyche, quality of life, woman, breast amputation.
