This work describes the author's own experiences of staying at the medical mission in Cameroon as part of the Redemptoris Missio Humanitarian Aid Foundation's "Midwife in Africa" project. In Cameroon, the Ministry of Public Health has a pyramid structure, at the base of which there are health units such as clinics, then district hospitals and at the top two main hospitals. Epidemics and endemic health problems such as malaria, tuberculosis, HIV / AIDS are the primary causes of mortality among the people of Cameroon. For this reason, various types of health government programs have been initiated, enabling free diagnostics and treatment of tuberculosis or giving the right of free access to retroviral drugs to HIV positive people. African obstetrics deviates from European standards, especially in villages and places far from major cities. However, in the capital of the country and the largest agglomerations, working conditions are similar to those found in Poland. Working without electronic equipment and learning diagnostics based on a clinical examination (palpation) and an interview are a huge challenge. Communication is also a problem, because the majority of villagers do not speak the official language (French or English language) but tribal language.Currently, 114 Polish missionaries testify their ministry to the local population.

Key words: medical mission, African obstetrics.
