Introduction. Communication technology is present in our daily life. We use a phone, text messages, an e-mail, and video. The development of telemedicine is influenced by several complex factors: IT progress, protection of health, and also demographic, social and economic factors. The technology is intended to help patients and medical staff in quick and early diagnostics of health problems. Tools of telemedicine will increase not only the quality of provided services, but also the sense of safety of a patient staying in hospital as well as at home. The number of nursing staff, decreasing for various reasons, affects the level of provided services, and the possibility to use medical equipment in telenursing will improve care over patients. Aim. The aim of the study is to draw attention to the rapid development of telemedical devices used in the world and in Poland, and further dissemination in health care facilities, and in home conditions of a patient. Conclusions. The introduction of telemedical devices into the nursing practice will not only improve the physician–patient–nurse relationship, but it would also improve the functioning of the system in entire health service. Devices used by nursing staff in telemedicine would cause the possibility to provide continuous care for increasing demand of nursing care at people.
