Introduction. The HELLP syndrome is one of the most popular complications in the course of pregnancy. The HELLP syndrome reaches the highest rate of morbidity during the last trimester of pregnancy. It is more common amongst white, multiparous wo-men who are over 25 years old. The exact aetiology and patho-genesis of the disease are yet unknown. The acronym of HELLP syndrome originates from its three main symptoms: H – haemo-lysis, EL – elevated liver enzyme levels, LP –thrombocytopenia. Clinical symptoms are: bad mood, right upper-abdominal pain, proteinuria, hypertension, nausea, vomiting, headache and visual impairment. The most frequent complications within the course of HELLP syndrome are: disseminated intravascular coagulation, placental abruption, renal failure, pulmonary oedema and sub-capsular liver haematoma. Aim. The objective of this work was to present a plan of care for a second-time pregnant woman, in the 32ndweek of pregnancy, diagnosed with the HELLP syndrome with its all symptoms. Conclusions. The right course of care for a pregnant patient enables for providing an individual and continuous nursing care. A defi ned care plan makes it possible to solve problems found in the course of providing care successfully and effi ciently, taking into account the condition of the patient and the well-being of the foetus. Continued evaluation of the nursing actions that were undertaken allows for their verifi cation and drawing conclusions. The nursing process should be the basic tool in providing nur-sing care since it guarantees high-quality care, its continuity and security.
