Introduction. Pedobarography is a very important diagnostic procedure. It is applicable to the prevention and treatment of changes arising as a result of increased pressure. In particular, it is widely used as a part of procedures preventing plantar foot wounds. It also facilitates early detection of changes in foot structure resulting from degradation of tissues, especially in patients with diabetes, circulatory disorders, and neuropathy. Aim. The aim of the study was to indicate the directions of pedobarography applications in the prophylaxis and treatment of overload changes while indicating the factors favouring and limiting its use by nursing staff and wound care specialists in Poland. Material and methods. In this study, a qualitative analysis of the normative documents of the guaranteed benefits fund, standards for the education of nursing staff and other provisions and documents normalizing the education of nursing staff has been made. Results. A qualitative analysis of the effects of nursing staff education indicates the possibility of implementing content that allows the education of knowledge and skills in the field of pedobarography. This applies to both the implementation of higher education curricula and in the area of personnel training through specialized courses (i.e. postgraduate education). Conclusions. 1) Educational standards and learning outcomes implemented during specialist courses in postgraduate education correlate with the directions of pedobarography applications. 2) Pedobarography appears in the list of guaranteed benefits fund procedures and is recommended in the prevention, education and treatment of diabetic foot syndrome. 3) It is justified to include nursing staff who perform tasks related to the prevention, education and treatment of diabetic foot syndrome and plantar wounds resulting from increased pressure. 4) The implementation of the procedure by non-medical staff will promote access to the service. This is also supported by economic aspects, which are influenced by both the short duration of the examination and the cost of the examination itself and the pedobarograph.
