Subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) is a type of haemorrhagic stroke caused by blood entering from a ruptured cerebral aneurysm into the subarachnoid space. It may be complicated by cerebral vasospasm and subsequent ischemia, and as a further consequence, delayed ischemic deficits and clinical deterioration of a patient’s state. Nursing care for a patient with symptomatic vasospasm is aimed at early detection and prevention of possible complications related to both the underlying disease (SAH), vascular spasm and its treatment. This work presents a case study of a patient with cerebral vasospasm after SAH, treated by intracranial aneurysm clipping. Particular attention was paid to the nursing tasks and interventions in diagnostics, treatment, and prevention of neurological, non-neurological and nursing complications.

Key words: subarachnoid haemorrhage, cerebral vasospasm, case report, nursing care.
