Cerebral palsy is a group of musculoskeletal and posture-related developmental disorders caused by non-progressive brain damage in the fetal or infancy period, resulting in a limited activity. There are three main forms of it: spastic, dyskinetic and atactic.
Aim. The aim of the work is to present a nursing care plan for a teenage person with cerebral palsy.
Material and methods. On the basis of a case study, a plan of nursing care for a patient with tetraplegia and spastic cerebral palsy during hospitalization was presented.
Conclusions. 1) Nursing care for a patient with cerebral palsy is aimed at supporting and enhancing his independence and self-care ability. 2) During the nursing care of a patient with cerebral palsy, the nursing team’s awareness of the specifics in the patient's behaviour, reactions and sensitivity is of great importance. 3) In the nursing care of a patient with cerebral palsy, due to the complexity of his needs, cooperation between members of the therapeutic team is important.
