Introduction. A nursing home is designed for people with intellectual disabilities. It is a place where healthcare, household and educational needs of the occupants are met. People with cerebral palsy have the same needs as healthy people. Nurturing and improving patients with CP is a long-term process and requires a huge effort from the staff. Proper care, nourishment, rehabilitation, prevent complications and improve the health condition and mental state. Working with people with CP is sometimes difficult for the nurses. An important element, which gives working in the nursing home the meaning, is charge’s satisfaction. The comprehensive involvement of the entire therapeutic and educational team should greatly improve the quality of nursing home patients’ lives, as this is a place where residents spend a number of years, and even their entire lives. Aim. The aim of the present work is to present problems related to care of an adult patient with cerebral palsy at the nursing home, based on the individual case description. Material and method. A patient with cerebral palsy was a subject for the test. The female was a 39 year-old resident of a nursing home in Chwałkowo. In this study an individual case method was used. For that the following research techniques were used: the analysis of documents, an interview, and observations by nurses. Conclusions. The institution of nursing home plays an important role in meeting the needs of people with disabilities. The patient was provided the comprehensive care by the entire therapeutic and educational team. As a result of the actions taken by nurses, the planned objectives were achieved through the acceptance, support, and satisfying patient’s physiological needs. An individual approach to the adult person with CP, and the proper diagnosis of bio-psycho-social state problems enable to provide continuous care, nurturing, rehabilitation and treatment.
