Introduction and aim. This paper attempts to assess the dietary habits and physical activity as well as health care of grade 4–6 students attending the primary school in a small town in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province. Material and methods. The study included 119 children. The children anonymously completed the questionnaire of our own design. The questions included are essential for maintaining health, actions and habits. Children responded well to questions about mental health, their leisure time and contacts with their peers. Caring for one’s health is manifested not only when one loses it. It is mostly expressed by proper nutrition and maintaining physical fitness. Such actions should be taken to promote a healthy lifestyle among children in every stage of adolescence. Conclusions. These should be two-way actions, thus both parents and teachers should participate and pass their knowledge about health and health behaviors to their children.

Key words: health behaviors, lifestyle, children, parents, teachers.
