Introduction. A very important moment in the life of every person is the choice of of the study major and profession. The most often chosen motives can be divided into two groups: internal (subjective) and external (situational) motives. Aim. Identifying the motives of people choosing nursing education in the PMWSZ in Opole. Material and methods. The study covered 181 undergraduate nursing students in Opole. The method of the diagnostic survey was used with the survey technique, to which the author's questionnaire was developed. Results. The choice of nursing in PMWSZ in Opole was determined by the students surveyed: the willingness to help people (76.2%) and the prospect of finding a job easily (92.8%). 89.8% of respondents re-selected this education. The choice of PMWSZ in Opole to the institution where respondents are educated is dictated by the proximity of their place of residence (67.4%). Conclusions. Choosing the major of study was generally a conscious choice, and the main motives for taking this decision were not different from the expected ones.
