Aim. The aim of the study is to identify and analyze the relationship between selected socio-demographic variables and the process of burnout among nurses. Material and methods. A questionnaire survey covered 405 professionally active nurses working in hospital wards. In order to obtain empirical material, Copenhagen Burnout Inventory was used in the study as well as the author’s own questions, allowing to collect socio-demographic data from the respondents. Results and conclusions. There is a partial impact of socio-demographic factors on the occurrence of professional burnout syndrome among nurses. It was found that nurses with shorter seniority in general, more often experience personal burnout. Work-related burnout correlates with the length of seniority in the current position, which means that the longer it is, the more frequently the symptoms of burnout are observed. There is confirmed correlation between working on non-surgical wards and the type of ward and work-related burnout. There was also a relationship between the type of ward and voivodeship and burnout in contact with patients.

Key words: selected socio-demographic, professional burnout, nurses.
