Introduction. The educational process of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) is an integral part of treatment and prevention of complications, resulting from the kidney disease. A suitable education enables patients with this disease and their families to properly function in community, it reduces complications, which is advantageous for patient's health and medical costs. Aim. The research purpose was an assessment of nurses' knowledge regarding selected problems connected with chronic kidney disease, especially with the education of patients. Material and methods. 150 people were examined in the study (50 working in health clinics, 50 working in dialysis units and 50 working on hospital wards). A research method used in this study was a diagnostic survey in the form of a questionnaire. Results. Nurses working in dialysis units showed greater knowledge of a potassium intake in food, calcium and vitamin D supplementation and a supply of liquids than nurses working on hospital wards and in health clinics. Conclusion. In a studied group, nurses working in dialysis units showed greater knowledge than nurses working on hospital wards and health clinics.
