Piel Pol. 2019;1(71):100–104. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.20883/pielpol.2019.15 Introduction. Anticoagulants are widely used in the prevention
and treatment of cardiovascular disorders. The aim of the study
was to formulate a nursing care plan for a patient applying oral
anticoagulants using the ICNP® terminology.
Case study. The study involved a 75-year-old patient diagnosed
with atrial fi brillation, hospitalized at the Department of Cardiology,
Medical University of Gdańsk, in September 2017. The study
used the case study method (the technique of the interview, observation,
measurement and analysis of medical records).
Conclusions. Based on the data obtained, nursing diagnoses
were formulated: risk for haemorrhaging, risk for medication side
effect, lack of knowledge of medication, impaired cardiac function,
risk for deep vein thrombosis, altered blood pressure, functional
dyspnoea, dizziness, activity intolerance, risk for impaired
skin integrity.
