Analysis of nursing students' knowledge on threats and onerous work conditions of nurses

Introduction. In the nurse's work environment there are many biological, physical, psychological, chemical and ergonomic threats related to the specificity of the profession. Aim. The aim of the study was to assess the knowledge of Nursing students on threats and onerous working conditions at the nurse's position. Material and method. The study used the method of a diagnostic survey. The research tool was a self-help questionnaire containing 42 test questions. 100 nursing students were examined, including 81 women and 19 men, aged 18 to 51 years. The respondents studied undergraduate and graduate studies. Results. Just over half of the students (51%) had sufficient knowledge about the risks and burdensome working conditions of nurses. Good knowledge was characteristic of 31% of people, and very good – 9%. Other students (9%) had insufficient knowledge on this subject. 66% of respondents rated their level as incomplete, 20% satisfactory, and 13% as weak. One student reported that he did not have any knowledge. Conclusion. 1) The students' knowledge about the risks and burdensome working conditions of nurses is insufficient. 2) Students are aware of their knowledge and possible gaps. 3) Place of residence, degree of study and self-assessment have an impact on the knowledge possessed by students about the risks and burdensome working conditions at the position of a nurse.
