In connection with the aging of societies and the increasing number of people suffering from dementia disorders, the medical staff will increasingly face the need of solving dilemmas related to assisted and artificial feeding among this group of patients. Decisions on the initiation of artificial nutrition and hydration should be made by the therapeutic team and the patient's family taking into account the patient’s previous wishes or preferences, making a well-detailed list of potential benefits as well as the inconvenience or harm associated with the therapy being considered. In the case of implementing nutritional interventions, it is necessary to evaluate regularly the effects of the activities carried out. The work is aimed at presenting selected ethical issues related to artificial feeding of people suffering from dementia.
